Saw Beau is Afraid last night in a packed house. My new front-runner for favorite of the year.
I’ve actually been wondering, how comparable are the reactions to this film’s release to something like Mulholland Dr. or Lost Highway? I’ve been aware of them for years as masterpieces but can imagine general audiences wouldn’t have know what to do with them in a very similar way.
It does seem like a new era in post-pandemic moviegoing. I pulled up the app for my local theater yesterday and realized, wow, I can't remember the last time there were this much variety of choice for a night out at the movies?

Excellent reviews of these films. I'm now even more excited to see Beau Is Afraid and Evil Dead Rise!
Thank you!!!! I was going to watch Beau Is Afraid regardless, but I was a little worried after one reviewed said it was Ari Aster's Tenet 😲
