I appreciate the warning about the frame rate thing so much. It can be dizzying to me!!

I really want to see it opening weekend in IMAX 3D at my local laser-equipped multiplex, so unfortunately I probably have no choice but VFR...but I imagine I will be seeing it multiple times in theatres and will probably go without the gimmicks for my repeat viewings.

The frame rate thing would drive me insane, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks David! Your thoughts were really insightful, especially since I've only seen social on the film. Can't wait to listen to your full review on the Filmcast!

How do the changes in frame rate manifest? What does that look like/feel like? Is it something that will be obvious to those (like me) who are less knowledgeable about filmmaking?

For most people, it'll probably be like when you're watching a football game in 60fps and then it cuts to a commercial that's filmed and broadcast in 24fps. Except imagine that happening over 100 times during the course of the movie.

I guess I won't matter to me much because I don't know what you're talking about. Football games are in 60fps? Okay, I hadn't notice.

Look forward to the discussion on the podcast. Feel like there will be disagreements that will fun to hear.

Sounds like frame rate could be a bit of a misfire. Devindra apparently didn’t love it either. If you guys did a after dark or deep dive during the review on frame rate issues for this movie, I wouldn’t hate it.

I've always likened TFA to Terminator 2 ever since it came out. I feel like T2 repeats story & plot beats (as well as specific shots) even more egregiously than the TFA does with A New Hope. Cameron also did a lot of that in Aliens, so I guess that's just how he sequels? 🤷
