I absolutely love Rogue One so as soon as I saw the trailer for this I’ve been chomping at the bit to see it. I also loved Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow so I’m amped for another movie to add to my sci-fi pile. Thanks for the review - it made me smile throughout in anticipation.
I wonder if that slower pacing was intentional by Gareth Edwards. The film was anti war, not an action blockbuster. That space scene was spectacular for sure but so many scenes while not action driven were breathtaking for me. I was also devastated and frequently looked away. The allusions to the Vietnam War and anti Asian violence with children was very intense but intentional.
