Love this review, because this was exactly my take. At surface it looks like it explores faith and religion. But the entire premise is violence and control over women. Trying to humiliate an adolescent girl for having birth control implant in light of her faith (when most educated people know birth control is prescribed for an array of medical conditions), all the captives in the basement were female and again, we are all extremely aware there are many male missionaries. The list goes on but glad to see more people saw beyond the face value.
